Man detained after climbing portion of Eiffel Tower on Las Vegas Strip

A man has been detained after he climbed a portion of the replica Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas on Friday, according to police.

Someone reported just before 1:20 p.m. that a person was climbing the bottom portion of the tower on the Strip, said Officer Aden OcampoGomez with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

That person remained on the tower for several minutes, and the sidewalk in front of the resort could be seen blocked off as officers and at least one fire engine responded.

The man eventually came down and he was detained by officers just before 2 p.m., OcampoGomez confirmed.

There was no immediate word on why the individual climbed the tower.
