Want to be seen in the stands during the upcoming 2020 UNLV Football season, even if the COVID-19 pandemic keeps you from actually attending? UNLV Athletics has a solution: get a life-sized cardboard cutout made.
On Thursday UNLV Athletics announced the launch of the UNLV Football Fan Cutout Program. The program lets fans pay $79 ($49 for students) to get a customized image printed out and placed in the stands if attendance is limited during the season. Fans who buy more than one cutout will get a discount. There is also the option to pay an extra $20 to have your cutout appear at basketball games after the football season finishes.
“This initiative offers our loyal fans and supporters the opportunity to directly participate in our inaugural season at Allegiant Stadium,” said UNLV Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs John Gladchuk. “While it will also generate invaluable scholarship support through the Momentum Fund, it is also intended to be a fun, light-hearted way to help bring joy and excitement amidst the difficult circumstances we are all facing.”
The images do have to follow certain rules, including no advertising, no non-UNLV-branded attire, no offensive comments, no political statements, no personal identification, no alcohol, and no using a likeness without permission.
All money spent towards the cutouts will also count as a scholarship gift to the RAF’s Momentum Fund Campaign.
“This is a great way for fans to support our football program and athletics department,” Gladchuk continued. “The cutouts will reflect the dedication of our invaluable friends and supporters who have stayed behind us and continued to support our student-athletes, exhibited through the success of the Momentum Fund during these unprecedented times.”
Seating for the cutouts is chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis. Orders must be placed by October 26 to guarantee cutouts will be on display during the home opener against UNR on October 31.
