Southbound Interstate 15 will close this weekend in downtown Las Vegas to accommodate Project Neon work, the last closure until the summer of 2019, according to transportation officials.
The southbound side will close between the Spaghetti Bowl and Charleston Boulevard at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and reopen 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, the Nevada Department of Transportation said.
In addition to the interstate, crews will close the following ramps:
- U.S. Highway 95 northbound to Interstate 15 southbound
- D Street on-ramp to Interstate 15 southbound
- U.S. Highway 95 northbound off-ramp to Martin Luther king Boulevard
- Interstate 15 northbound off-ramp to Martin Luther King Boulevard
All southbound traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 95 northbound and MLK Boulvard. Cars will re-enter I-15 from the new Pinto Lane on-ramp.
NDOT says the closure is needed to finish work on a HOV flyover structure, part of Project Neon.
It will the last weekend closure on I-15 until the summer, when crews will have to put down an asphalt overlay on the freeway, according to a spokesman.
