Shaquille O'Neal is growing his chicken empire.
The basketball superstar announced Tuesday that Big Chicken, his restaurant brand that began in Las Vegas, is now growing to Southern California.
The new location will be in Glendale, California, about eight miles north of downtown Los Angeles, and it's expected to open later this year, according to the announcement.
"I can’t wait to bring Big Chicken to Southern California and let more people experience the best chicken sandwich in the world," O'Neal said in a statement.
Big Chicken first opened in Las Vegas last fall. The creation of the restaurant was chronicled in the Facebook Watch series "Big Chicken Shaq," which included the Big Diesel making an appearance on News 3 to talk with Kim and Dana Wagner.
O'Neal played 19 seasons in the NBA and won four championships, one NBA MVP award and three NBA Finals MVP awards. He also recently took over the tables for a DJ set at Wynn Nightlife.
