We brought you this story last week as one of our own News 3 employees was in attendance at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
Employee Shella Sebay helped save the life of Ashley Barkin, who is here today with her father, Adam Barkin.
Now, they want to use their platform to raise money for the Victims Fund by holding a fundraiser at their pizza shop, Above the Crust.
It was a night that could have taken Sebay and Ashley Barkin on a path that would change them forever.
"My daughter called my wife on her cell phone and said, 'I love you, mommy,' and she said, 'I love you too.' And all she could hear was gunshots," recalled Adam Barkin.
When bullets flew on Sunday night, Sebay and Barkin got down on the ground.
"I was like, this place is clearing out. We are sitting ducks. We're sitting here, not moving. It's fight or flight. She said, 'no, no,' and I just grabbed her and ran," said Sebay.
It was a split-second decision that would save their lives.
Today, the Barkins' daughter lives because her friend was right by her side.
On behalf of Ashley Barkin and Shella Sebay, Above the Crust Pizza will be having a fundraiser on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 12–8 p.m. All proceeds from their sales and all donations will be made to the Victims Fund. They will be having a silent auction and live remotes from 96.3 KKLZ, Star 107.9, and 102.7 The Coyote.
We are Vegas Strong and our community needs to come together, so join them at this neighborhood pizzeria for a day and night of unity.
Above the Crust is located at 7810 West Ann Road.
