The Covergirl who’s graced more than 500 magazine covers herself told me it’s this marquee on the Las Vegas strip that stopped her in her tracks.
Christie Brinkley is hoping to "razzle dazzle" them back on stage for her third go-around as Roxie Hart in the musical "Chicago."
She'll be doing the cell black tango on Broadway and making two stops in the musical's national tour, including one in Las Vegas.
"I came upon a poster of me on the Vegas strip I literally had one of those moments where suddenly your mind flashes over everything in your life that brought you to this moment," Brinkley said.
She last performed the role in 2012, and she said it took a bit of work to get back into the groove.
"It’s enough time to forget it all," she said with a laugh.
Brinkley said that with a team of professionals she's ready, and the audience will love the evolution of the show.
“No matter what I do, you’re going to get your money’s worth.”
She's also just as captivated with all that jazz as the audience would be.
“I stand in the wings, literally, like sometimes I’m afraid that I’m going to miss my cue because I’m just like, 'wow. Wow would you look at that.'"
Brinkley said she didn't have formal theatrical training, and she admits this was a bit of a detour for her, but at 65, she's pulling from her life experience to fill Roxie's shoes.
"I don’t think I would have been here, doing this at all, if it hadn’t been for some of the worst moments in my life that made me say, 'I can do it.'"
And she is, in bright lights.
Christie Brinkley will be at the Venetian Theater through April 14, and there are still some tickets available.
