The new superhero movie "Captain Marvel" took off this weekend, bringing the story of Marvel Comics' Carol Danvers to life.

The character is an Air Force pilot, so to prepare for the role, star Brie Larson spent some time at Nellis Air Force Base in Southern Nevada.

Larson talked with NBC's Sunday Today about her experience at Nellis, which included a "messy ride" in an F-16.

"Puked the whole time," she admitted. "The entire time."

The mess was probably worth it: "Captain Marvel" grossed an estimated $153 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend.
